I’ve had the opportunity to hone a variety of hard and soft skills throughout my career. While I learned some over the course of my career in a professional setting, others were skills I decided to teach myself as a source of personal fulfillment.
In my experience with Power BI I have created 50+ reports with 4,500+ views. This includes end-to-end work of gathering requirements from stakeholders, determining data sources, building semantic models, creating visualizations, UI/UX design, providing proper documentation, and training users how to use the reports. Additionally, I've spent a good amount of time providing demos and mentoring citizen developers.
With the use of SQL I have built multiple reports for operations departments over the course of 7 years. I've used Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle. I'm experienced with aggregate and window functions, various joins, CTEs, and temp tables.
I've leveraged Power Query primarily within Power BI to connect to various data sources such as SQL Server and Oracle databases, APIs, web sources, and Excel files. Using its transformation capabilities I then clean and transform data using both the user interface and custom formulas in M. I'm a big believer in documenting and providing context behind each of the steps.
Using Power Automate I've automated Power BI semantic model refreshes at cadences not currently possible within Power BI service, sent emails, wrote to Excel files, and built end-to-end automation of operational processes.
I've used Excel to create capacity models, build dashboards, construct ad-hoc and standard reports, and analyze data. I'm comfortable working with advanced functions, pivot tables, charts, cleaning data, conditional formatting, and automation.
Using VBA, I've automated multiple reports in Excel. My biggest accomplishment was saving over 1,000 hours annually by improving a daily inventory report process.
I have experience working with both Universal Analytics and Google Analytics 4 versions. Including migrating a website with 78 million annual views to the GA4 platform.
I've used Google Tag Manager extensively to manage a container with 100+ tags. Some of the tracking I've implemented includes menu and accordion clicks, pixels, and custom cookies.
I've constructed several dashboards to understand customer behavior on websites, Google Ads performance, and marketing efforts.
My report creating experience includes utilizing Power BI, Looker Studio, Excel and SQL to develop real-time, ad-hoc, and standard reports. Inventory monitoring, sales data, employee performance, and capacity planning are a few areas I've constructed reporting around.
I've used Excel to create dashboards for employee performance to determine bonuses, capacity planning to determine hiring needs, and other ad-hoc requests. Additionally, I've used Looker Studio to measure website and marketing performance.
Whether it's preparing colleagues for a new role or providing information to stakeholders of multiple departments and positions, I'm comfortable providing data and intel to an audience to improve the well-being of a company.
My customer service experience spans multiple years working with internal customers as an analyst and external customers in a call center and my own eCommerce business.
I can speak Spanish at a basic conversational level and continue to study it daily via reading books, listening to music, and watching videos in Spanish. In addition, I've utilized it while traveling in Mexico to have conversations with locals, book transportation, order food, and check into accommodations.

Google Analytics 4 through Analytics Mania. This is a course that helps plan GA4 setup, how to collect data, use the interface, and create reports.
I've taken the Google Tag Manager Masterclass for Beginners and the Intermediate/Advanced Google Tag Manager course through Analytics Mania. This assisted with how to set up a variety of tags, templates to use, naming conventions, troubleshooting, and using server-side and advanced tracking techniques.
Below is a series of projects I’ve worked on in my spare time which demonstrates my ability to use SQL, Business Intelligence tools, and create documentation.
I utilized Looker Studio and Google Sheets as a data source to create a dashboard to provide tools and analysis for a mobile language learning game I play. This includes a custom calculator, an analysis of the best places to capture beasts within the game, and a repository that breaks down all attainable titles by category, strength, and provides the qualifications for getting them. The dashboard is available and used by several people who play the game. I created parameters, calculated fields, and used various controls and visuals while making this dashboard.
I have been learning Spanish and found a game I enjoy playing that helps with vocabulary. It is called LangLandia. While playing, I noticed many people had questions about the game’s nuances, but there wasn’t documentation to provide answers. So I created a guide. I gathered information by collecting data myself and talking with other players. Once I compiled everything, I shared it in the game chat. The developer saw it and liked it so much that he sent out messages with the link to everyone in the game. This guide demonstrates my attention to detail, research capabilities, and ability to create documentation, which I’ve also needed as an analyst when developing tools and training material for people.
I utilized SQL to clean up housing data. Some of the things done were removing duplicates, splitting out addresses to individual columns, and standardizing date formats.
I took a large covid data set and explored the information to see what I could find. In my queries, I demonstrate my ability to use joins, CTEs, temp tables, create views, utilize window functions, use aggregate functions, and convert data types.
Using COVID data from January 2020 through April 2021 I created a dashboard in Tableau to show the total cases, infection rate by country, deaths per continent, and forecast out infections.
Outside of my professional life, I have a variety of interests. I’m always looking to try something new and keep learning.
I love traveling whenever I can. So far, I’ve visited 15 countries, including a 6-month solo backpacking trip through SE Asia and Europe.
Living in the Black Hills allows me to hike a lot. You’ll often find me researching the area and locating off-the-beaten-path trails. I write about some of the hikes I take on my blog.
Traveling extensively got me curious about other cultures and languages. I want to learn another language so I can connect with locals in places I visit. I’m currently learning Spanish and even wrote about my favorite game I utilize to help with vocab.
I have a neverending list of books I want to read. You can often find me delving into topics such as true crime, travel, social science, self-improvement, and whatever else catches my eye.
I grew up playing multiple sports, primarily baseball. I don’t play competitively anymore, but I spend a good amount of time watching my favorite teams. I follow the Atlanta Braves, Green Bay Packers. and Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Over the past few years, I’ve started writing more. I created a website and post on my blog about travel, hiking, and language learning.
